Almina Thai massage

I travelled to Chiang Mai and learn more about of Thai Massage and now I have extensive knowledge of:

  • Applied anatomy, physiology and kinesiology for Thai Massage
  • Working to remove blockages in the bodies following Tom Tam healing system
  • High Risk Stretching
  • Tok Sen ( ancient art ) using wooden pads applied diversity on to on Sen Sib lines along the body
  • Creating individualised herbal compress balls and using them effectively
  • Thai Massage Clinical Training
  • Therapeutic Thai Massage Training, which includes massage for senior people and people with disabilities
  • Contraindications and cautions in Thai Massage
  • Thai Foot Reflexology

Thai massage is a combination of bodywork and energy work. As well as manipulating the muscles and joints to release tension and encourage relaxation, I also work on the energy lines of the body. In Thai medicine these are known as the Sen Sib or ten channels, and are similar to the Chinese meridians. The use of acupressure along these lines encourages the body’s energy to flow more freely. This energy, or life force, is known as Lom Pran, similar to Chinese Chi or yogic Prana.

A typical Thai massage lasts around 90 minutes and is given fully clothed on a futon-style mattress on the floor. Your therapist will stretch and manipulate various parts of your body and will ask you to inhale and exhale at certain points. It is important to wear comfortable clothes you can move in and not to eat for at least 1-2 hours beforehand. As with any massage, you should drink lots of water afterwards.

Massage isn’t just about feeling good, although that is one of the many benefits. Therapeutic massage is a holistic therapy that reduces stress, relaxes tense muscles, relieves pain, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, detoxifies the body, improves range of motion, and increases endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers).
